Despondent.

An ominous forbidding clung to her,

The daunting mist could almost touch the ends of her hair,

as she paced about unaware, never checking her rear,

But in the wake of her heel,  shadowing her every move,

It followed, pulling her back, tugging at her very soul,

A chorus that got to her ear but was not fathomable,

If she trod faster, she enjoyed the spring,

Slower she felt a bit sick, but couldn’t grasp why,

She feels she needs to let go, be free in the ocean breeze,

But she is pinned inept, She doesn’t contend,

Lately it has been closing in faster,

If she only knew, she would run,

But her senses struggle to surmount.

  1. “It followed, pulling her back, tugging at her very soul,

A chorus that got to her ear but was not fathomable,” – I really liked this part, it feels so relatable yet at the same time so enigmatic. I think we have all experienced a phenomenon like this.
